Godly Play (ages 3-10), Sundays 9:30-10:30am

During the school year (Sept to May), children (ages 3-10) gather for Godly Play in the Parish House (down the hallway to the last door on the left). Godly Play is a creative and imaginative approach to Christian children’s formation that allows kids to make meaning by connecting the stories of Scripture with their personal life experiences, through open-ended questions and open play. Godly Play values process, community, discovery, imagination, and relationship.

Please contact Sarah Bently Allred if you have any questions about the Godly Play curriculum, or if want to learn more about how we approach children’s formation at The Episcopal Church of the Advocate.

Kids in Worship

A young member of the congregation holds the gospel book while the rector reads.

Our 10:30am Festive Family Eucharist is designed to more fully integrate kids into the liturgical experience. Children are invited to participate in the liturgical action and to feel a part of what is going on – by holding the Gospel book, ringing the bell, lighting candles, or gathering around the altar during the Eucharistic prayer.

In the Chapel, there is a kids area when you first walk in the door that is stocked with soft toys, books, crayons, and “Kids Bulletins” which feature simple games and exercises based on the readings of the day. There is also a nursery in the Parish House for parents who need a quiet sanctuary or a place to help their kids settle down.
