The Churches of the Durham Convocation

A Lenten Reflection Day

9:30 AM-3:00 PM

The Church of the Holy Family, Chapel Hill

The Rev. Dr.s Jo Bailey and. Sam Wells

Join men and women from parishes of the Durham Convocation for a Lenten day of reflection with the Rev. Dr. Jo Bailey Wells, and her husband, the Rev. Dr. Samuel Wells.  Jo Wells is an Associate Professor of the Practice of Christian Ministry and Bible at Duke Divinity School and is the Director of the Anglican Episcopal House of Studies there.  Sam serves as Dean of Duke Chapel and Research Professor of Christian Ethics at Duke Divinity School.  Attendance is limited so registering early will insure you a place.

During our day of reflection, Sam and Jo will lead us in exploring four characters central to biblical narratives of the first Holy Week.   The presentations will be based on Sam’s book, Power and Passion: Six Characters is Search of Resurrection, which was selected by the Archbishop of Canterbury as his ‘Lenten Book’ for 2007.  Copies of Power and Passion will be available for purchase throughout the day.  A vegetarian sack lunch is included as part of the registration cost.  Opportunities for silent reflection and for corporate worship will also be a part of our day together.

The Church of the Holy Family is located on Hayes Road which runs parallel to Highway 15-501 Bypass in Chapel Hill.  Coming from Durham, stay on the 15-501 Bypass as you approach Chapel Hill.  Go past Eastgate Shopping Center and University Mall which are both on your right.  Continue less than one mile and Holy Family will be on your left requiring you to cross the highway.   From Hillsborough, take I-40 East, exit at 15-501 going south.  Follow above directions from exit.
