Blessing of Our Animals October 3 @4PM

deer at the houseRAIN OR SHINE!
Join us on the front yard (or in the carport, or in the chapel) of the Advocate on Saturday, October 3, the Eve of the Feast of St. Francis, for a Blessing of Our Animals. Kids of all ages are invited to bring their favorite critter, alive of plush, for a (relatively short) service of song and prayer, story and blessing. But even if you don’t have a pet, all are welcome and encouraged to come!

St. Francis is known for his love and appreciation of animals. We will give thanks for Francis and we realize the blessing that God’s creatures can be in our lives.

    • All things bright and beautiful,
      All creatures great and small,
      All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
    • Each little flow’r that opens,
      Each little bird that sings,
      He made their glowing colors,
      He made their tiny wings.
    • The purple-headed mountains,
      The river running by,
      The sunset and the morning
      That brightens up the sky.
    • The cold wind in the winter,
      The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
      He made them every one.
    • The tall trees in the greenwood,
      The meadows where we play,
      The rushes by the water,
      To gather every day.
    • He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell
      How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.
