The Rev. Dr. Marilyn McCord Adams was the non-stipendiary Priest Associate of the Church of the Advocate, appointed by Bishop Curry, from the summer of 2011 through the spring of 2013. Marilyn is a philosopher and theologian, focusing on philosophy of religion and medieval philosophy. She has been a priest of the church since 1987, when she was ordained in the Diocese of Los Angeles. She has served on the faculty at UCLA, Yale University and at Oxford University, where she was Regius Professor (that means she was appointed by the Crown) and then served on the faculty at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. In May 2013, she and her husband, Bob Adams, moved to Princeton, New Jersey. We miss her.
Marilyn is a prolific writer, known especially for her work on William Ockham and her many books on the problem of evil.
