Wednesday, July 28 At the Advocate Office, 403 West Weaver Street in Carrboro

The Eucharist at Noon: Celebrating the life and witness of Holy Women and Holy Men*.

Contemplative Prayer at 6 PM.

Saturday July 31

9  AM – 11 AM Community Garden.  Come cultivate the garden. No experience necessary. For more information, contact Elizabeth Wallace <poetscloth@verizon.net>.

8 AM – noon and 12:30 – 4 Advocate Habitat Build Day! Our last Saturday to join with folks from the AME churches and work on the house. It’s almost done! If you are able to help for a morning shift or and afternoon shift on one or both of those dates, contact:  kneeburg@hotmail.com

Sunday, August 1 Tenth Sunday after Pentecost

Morning Liturgy: 8:45 AM Holy Eucharist. The Rev. Karen Barfield will celebrate and the Rev. Rhett Brown will preach. Child care for 1-6 year-olds during the Liturgy of the Word. At Unity Center of Peace, 8800 Seawell School Road.

Evening Liturgy: 5 PM. Holy Eucharist followed by an dinner fellowship (for our salad bar potluck greens and bread will be provided – please bring a topping or side item as you are able): The Rev. Karen Barfield will celebrate and the Rev. Rhett Brown will preach. At Unity Center of Peace, 8800 Seawell School Road. (Please note: there will not be child care offered during the evening liturgy. Children are welcome to be part of the congregation. Crayons and paper will be provided).

Contemplative Prayer at 6 PM.

*Note on Holy Women Holy Men (from Church Publishing): Fully revised and expanded, this new work is the first major revision of the liturgical calendar of the Episcopal Church in more than 40 years. It is the official revision of Lesser Feasts and Fasts and authorized by the 2009 General Convention. All commemorations in Lesser Feasts and Fasts have been retained, and many new ones added. Three scripture readings (instead of current two) are provided for all minor holy days.

Looking Ahead:

August 15 Advocate Blue Grass Mass back by popular demand. Featuring musicians from the Advocate and our sponsoring parishes. At the Carrboro Century Center in Downtown Carrboro. 5 PM. Note that there will not be a morning liturgy on this day.

August 20-22 Contemplative Prayer Retreat (see note below)

Coming this fall:

Theology on Tap with the Rev. Nathan Kirkpatrick. Thursdays at 6 PM, alternating locations between Durham and Carrboro. Stay tuned for more details!
