Wednesday, June 30 At the Advocate Office, 403 West Weaver Street in Carrboro

The Eucharist at Noon: Celebrating the life and ministry of Harriet Beecher Stowe

Contemplative Prayer at 6 PM.

Friday, July 2    Taizé Service — 6PM at 403 West Weaver Street. All are welcome at this simple service of song, prayer and meditation, inspired by the Taizé community in France. Invite a friend to join you.

Saturday July 3

9 AM – 11 AM Community Garden

Sunday, July 4 Sixth Sunday after Pentecost

Morning Liturgy: 8:45 AM Holy Eucharist. The Rev. Karen Barfield will celebrate and preach. Child care for 1-6 year-olds during the Liturgy of the Word. At Unity Center of Peace, 8800 Seawell School Road.

Evening Liturgy: 5 PM. Holy Eucharist followed by an dinner fellowship (food provided). The Vicar will celebrate and the Rev. Karen Barfield will preach. At Unity Center of Peace, 8800 Seawell School Road. (Please note: there will not be child care offered during the evening liturgy. Children are welcome to be part of the congregation. Crayons and paper will be provided).

Wednesday, July 7 At the Advocate Office, 403 West Weaver Street in Carrboro

The Eucharist at Noon: Celebrating the life and witness of Holy Women and Holy Men.

Contemplative Prayer at 6 PM.

“Service of Lament and Reconciliation”, an interfaith prayer service for the Gulf Coast oil spill. Ellen Davis, Professor of Biblical and Practical Theology at the Duke Divinity School, will give a reflection at the vigil. Looking Ahead:

Saturday, July 10 – Second Saturday Crafters Guild at 403 West Weaver Street. Bring you favorite crafts and join with others who enjoy the creative process. There will be some focus on quilting this month, but any craft is welcome.

Sunday, July 11  – Second Sunday Woods Walk. following the morning liturgy, join with others of the Advocate in a walk on the trails adjacent to Unity Center of Peace.

July 23-25 — Advocate Camping Trip (see note below)

August 15  – Advocate Blue Grass Mass back by popular demand. Featuring musicians from the Advocate and our sponsoring parishes. At the Carrboro Century Center in Downtown Carrboro. 5 PM.

August 20-22  – Contemplative Prayer Retreat (see note below)

Coming this fall: Theology on Tap with the Rev. Nathan Kirkpatrick. Thursdays at 6 PM, alternating locations between Durham and Carrboro. Stay tuned for more details!
